New Years Long Weekend – January 2, 2018

 

Prince Albert Police Service had a steady New Year’s Long Weekend, responding to 276 calls for service and making 54 arrests. Of the 54 people arrested over the long weekend, 24 people were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.  The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (34) and disturbances (30).

Extra resources were deployed over the long weekend for high visibility and to proactively prevent impaired driving and alcohol related offences. Two of the impaired driving files were a result of officers working high visibility.

Five people were charged for impaired driving over the long weekend.

File # 2017-44201

On December 30, 2017, just before 6:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 4th Street East and 10th Avenue East. On arrival, police arrested a male for impaired driving. The suspect had hit a parked car while travelling along 4th Street East. There were no injuries because of the incident.

A 37-year-old male from Denare Beach is charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 (Info # 991036362). The accused was released from police custody and will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on January 11, 2018.

File # 2017-43961

On December 30, 2017 at 3:40 a.m. police attended to a parking lot of a hotel in the 3600 Blok of 2nd Avenue West for a motor vehicle accident. On arrival police confirmed, a female struck a parked car while parking her own vehicle. The female was arrested for impaired driving.

The 35-year-old accused from Prince Albert is charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 (Info # 991036332). The female will make her first court appearance on January 8, 2018 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

File # 2018-10

While on routine patrol on January 1, 2018 at 1:30 a.m., patrol officers pulled a vehicle over in the 2100 Block of Central Avenue for an impaired driving investigation as officers observed the vehicle swerving. Officers arrested a female driver for impaired A 26-year-old female from Saskatoon has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08. The accused will make her first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on February 13, 2018.

File # 2018-33

Just before 5:00 a.m., January 1, 2018 police were outside a residence in the 1000 Block of Branion Drive on an unrelated call when they heard a loud grinding metal sound on the street behind them. Police observed a vehicle trying to Parallel Park, hit a parked vehicle and then take off East bound on Branion Drive. Police immediately pulled the vehicle over and arrested the male driver.

A 31-year-old accused from Prince Albert has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding .08 and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. The accused will make his first court appearance January 29, 2018 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

File # 2018-201

On January 2, 2018 at 2:30 a.m., Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The complainant told police a grey Ford truck was swerving all over the road and was travelling East bound past the golf course on 22nd Street East.

Police responded to the area, located the vehicle and pulled the vehicle over at the intersection of 12th Avenue East and 7 Street East. A 14-year-old male was arrested and charged for impaired driving and exceeding .08.

The 14-year-old accused from Prince Albert was released to family. The accused will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on February 2, 2018.
