On Saturday morning, a distraught 16-year old male was observed on the train bridge west of the Diefenbaker Bridge. PA Police, as well as Fire and Protective Services and Parkland Ambulance responded. This male was intoxicated and agitated due to personal circumstances. A police negotiator was utilized, and after approximately an hour, this individual voluntarily climbed down. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital, and admitted for further examination.

The PA Police Service would like to extend thanks to our emergency services colleagues, the Prince Albert Fire and Emergency Services and Parkland Ambulance for their professional assistance on this call. This outstanding inter-agency cooperation continues to serve the citizens of Prince Albert very well.

Update:
Further to the motor vehicle accident involving 5 vehicles that occurred on Wednesday August 18th at the corner of 6Th Avenue and 22nd Street East, the preliminary investigation has been completed. An 81-year old Prince Albert male was Northbound on 6th Avenue East and struck the rear of a vehicle stopped in traffic, causing a chain reaction of damage. 3 persons were taken to the Victoria Hospital by Parkland Ambulance with minor injuries. The offending driver was held overnight in hospital for observation. 2 vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and traffic in the area was diverted for a period of time during the clean up and investigative process.

No charges have been laid against the elderly driver as it is suspected an underlying medical condition caused the accident. An SGI driver’s license review has been ordered.
