The Prince Albert Police Service was pleased to have been invited to assist in the judging of the Royal Purple ‘Healthy Choices’ campaign last Thursday, February 11th. Posters, poems and video presentations from grades 4 through grade 10 students were carefully examined. The judges were all very impressed with the quality of work of the students, and pleased with the positive message of choosing healthy lifestyles these projects conveyed. All agreed it was a very difficult task to choose one over another, and asked that we salute each of these young citizens of Prince Albert for a job very well done!
The Traffic Section of the PAPS conducted a Traffic Safety Blitz on Friday, February 12th. As a result of this concentrated enforcement action, primarily in various school zones, downtown core and Cornerstone areas, 28 tickets and 4 inspection tickets were written for a variety of offences under the Traffic Safety Act, including speeding, equipment violations, unregistered motor vehicles, no operators license, and an alcohol offense under the Alcohol Gaming Regulations Act.
Armed Robberies:

At approximately 10:00pm Saturday February 13th a lone male entered a gas station in the 400 block of 15th Street East, armed with a knife, and demanded cash from the clerk.
He fled North from the business, believed to be on foot. He is described as an aboriginal male, in his early 30’s, about 5’ 5”, medium build, wearing jeans, black boots and gloves, and a black hoodie with a logo on the left side.
The investigation is continuing.

On February 14th at approximately 10:10 pm Patrol officers responded to a hold up alarm from a convenience store in the 900 block of 17th Street West. On arrival it was discovered a lone male had entered the store armed with a knife, and had tried to rob the clerk. A brief struggle had ensued, and the offender had left without getting anything. The investigation is continuing.

On Feb.14th at approximately 5:10 pm members responded to a call of a Stolen Vehicle. The complainant initially had his vehicle stolen by the offender, then followed his vehicle, which soon lost control and struck another, with the driver fleeing the area of the 400 block of 28th Street East on foot. PSD Titan was deployed, and located a 28-year old male hiding a few blocks away.
This subject was arrested without incident, and charged with Dangerous Driving, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Breach of Undertaking x 3, and Fail to Stop at The Scene of an Accident. He will appear in Court today

This morning at approximately 6:30am, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 500 block of 13th Street West. Patrol officers located the vehicle, mobile, a few moments later, and initiated a vehicle stop. 2 persons ran from the vehicle, and the officer immediately took one into custody.
PSD Titan was deployed to locate the other a few moments later. A 28- year old male was located within a short period of time, and a few short blocks away, hiding in a large garbage can. He has been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Breach of Conditional Sentence, Breach of Probation, and Resist Arrest.
