On Thursday March 11th at approximately 7:15pm Prince Albert Police responded to a report of a male, walking on the pedestrian side of the Diefenbaker Bridge, armed with a dark coloured handgun, and firing into the river. An emergency response was initiated, with traffic being blocked entering the bridge. A responding Canine Unit member initiated a high-risk takedown near the North end of the bridge, and the offender was arrested without further incident. A search of the suspect subsequent to arrest revealed a black ‘air soft’ replica handgun on the suspect’s person.

He has been charged with Mischief, and released to appear in Court on April 20th/2010 at 1:30pm.

(2) The Prince Albert Police Service Crime Reduction Unit has made 8 arrests over the past 2 days in relation to prostitution in the City. 7 females from Prince Albert and area, ranging in age from 14 years of age to 37 years of age have been arrested and charged with offences ranging from Communicating For the Purpose of Prostitution, Procuring Prostitution, and a variety of breached court orders.

The Crime Reduction Unit would also like to remind the would- be ‘clients’ of prostitutes that it is also a criminal offence to engage in this activity. Enforcement efforts will be ongoing on all fronts.
