UPDATE – Please note that the Prince Albert Police Service has NOT released the cause of death in the homicide of Virgil PELLETIER. Some media outlets are reporting ‘blunt force trauma’ as the cause of death. As you know, this would never be done until an autopsy had been completed, and without Major Crimes investigators having had approved the release. There appears to have been some confusion after S/Sgt CHOW’S release yesterday.

 

Mr. PELLETIER was the victim of an assault the day prior to his death, but no charges have been laid in regard to this incident, and this trauma did not cause his death on April 8^th/2010. The investigation into this particular incident is ongoing. FURTHER, there has not been a 15-year old charged at this time, in either the homicide, or the assault the day prior. This investigation is also ongoing.
