Police attended to Hwy 2 N and the turn off to the dump for a single vehicle roll over on Friday evening at approx 2345 hours. A Chev ¾ ton was located lying on its side on the west side of the highway. The truck had been turning left from the highway when the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle. The accident is still under investigation.

Police received a call from a worker at the Prince Albert Youth Residence at approx 1642 hours on April 17 advising that two youth age 15yrs and 17yrs who are serving sentences, had just fled from staff while on route back to Prince Albert Youth Residence from the city. Police were in the area and both youth were apprehended within minutes of the escape. Both youth appeared in court Monday April 19, 2010 and were remanded until Apr 21 @ 9:30.

On Friday April 16 police responded to a report of an erratic driver in the west flat area of the city. The vehicle was located a short time later and emergency lights were activated. After a short pursuit the driver entered a yard and struck a fence and a tree. After a brief struggle the lone occupant a 29-year-old male was arrested. He has been charged with Fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving and Exceed .08 and Breach of Probation. The accused made his first court appearance on Monday. He was remanded to April 21 at 10AM for show Cause Hearing.
In the early morning hours of April 18 Police responded to the east flat area of our city for reports of willful damages. Several motor vehicles were located with the windows smashed out of them. Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents that may lead to an arrest, to please call Crime-Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8477 or Prince Albert Police at 953-4222. We also ask the public to please ensure that all valuables are taken out of their vehicles.

On Tues April 20 at approx. 0140 hours Police attended a south hill bar for a report of a robbery. The victim was taken to the hospital for a minor cut to his head and released a short time later. Victim advised that the accused had fled in a truck from the scene. S short time later police located the vehicle and arrested a 29yrs old Prince Albert male. He was charged with Robbery and Breach of Recognizance x 4. The male made his first court appearance this morning
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
National Public Safety Telecommunications week was held last week, April 11th –17th. This is a week set aside each year to recognize our telecommunication operators for their hard work and dedication. These people provide a vital link to the public safety services that we have come to rely on every day.
The Prince Albert Police Service is pleased to announce that two of our Communication Operators were awarded the Sask. 911 Excellence in Teamwork Award. This honor is given to those who exemplify professionalism and dedication in the Emergency Communications Field. Bonnie Logue and Randi Miller were given this award in Moose Jaw on April 14th. Their nomination includes comments such as: “Bonnie and Randi are a shining example of what good teamwork is. Overall these ladies have shown professionalism, dedication and the ability to go above and beyond the call of duty”. “They remain professional and calm and manage to prioritize and safely navigate officers to where they need to be” “The knowledge they shared and the ability to work together the way they did is hard to duplicate” “You can always count on Bonnie and Randi to deliver professional service” Their nomination will now be forwarded to a National Level for a the National Telecommunicators Teamwork Award.
Victims of Crime Awareness Week
This week is the 5th Annual Victims of Crime Awareness Week.
Every Victim of Crime- no matter who they are, where they live or the way in which they were victimized-should be treated with compassion and respect for their dignity.
Our Victim Services Unit would like to remind the public that they are available for support, information, referral and advocacy.
They are currently in need of volunteers. You must be 18yrs of age with a clear criminal record, be compassionate and have a desire to help people. There is extensive training provided to you and you are asked to commit to volunteering 4 hours per week. Please submit a hand written resume to the Victim Services Unit at the Prince Albert Police Service.
The Victim Services Unit would also like to welcome our new Aboriginal Resource Officer Jennifer Baldhead who joined the unit on April 6, 2010.
