Bear Spray Sales Project
The Community Services Section of the Prince Albert Police Service continues to work in cooperation with local retailers of ‘bear spray’ to develop a sales procedure designed to track sales of their product to residents of the City that require it. The end goal is to work cooperatively to limit local access of the product to these persons that have no legal need for it, yet keep it available for those citizens that have a viable need for it.

Please keep in mind that the limitations being designed are local only.

Media Questions:

Alarm Companies:
PAPS continues to receive a few complaints about traveling home alarm companies, and more specifically, about their overt sales tactics. Please ensure that these people display (on demand) a copy of their current sales license from the City. Further, if you are not interested in doing business with these people, simply say so. You are under no obligation to buy anything from anyone. If you feel their sales tactics are unreasonable, call police for assistance.

Farmer’s Market:
The question was whether of not the Police Service felt events like this made the downtown area a ‘safer place’?

My response would be that the downtown area already is a safe place. Public events, especially very popular ones like the local Farmer’s Market that bring people to the downtown, are always welcome. The Farmer’s Market is a very popular addition to seasonal events.
