Attempted Armed Robbery – February 14, 2019

One male is in custody after attempting an armed robbery and fleeing from police last night.

On February 13, 2019 just after 11:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to a complaint of an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred in the 2700 Block of 2nd Avenue West. The complainant told police the suspect approached him with a weapon described as a pipe or tool and demanded money and the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant sounded their car alarm and the suspect fled on foot.

Patrol members flooded the area and approximately 30 minutes after receiving the initial complaint an officer located a male matching the description of the suspect at 24th Street and 2nd Avenue West. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect who resisted. After a brief struggle, the suspect was arrested and handcuffed.

A 31-year-old male has been charged with attempted armed robbery and resisting arrest (Info # 991081419). The accused will make his first court appearance in Provincial Court today.

The victim was not injured during the incident.
