Media Release – Multiple Drivers Ticketed for Speeding Through School Zones as Classes Resume

Police handed out 75 tickets for speeding infractions in the first week after classes resumed as part of a proactive traffic safety blitz this month.

The safety blitz took place between September 8 and September 16, and included high-visibility enforcement and road safety patrols in school zones across the city.

Numerous drivers were also cautioned about the dangers of U-Turns in school zones in an effort to educate the public about changes to the city’s Traffic Bylaw that prohibit U-Turns. U-Turns are no longer permitted in school zones Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Prince Albert Police Service would like to remind the public that the speed limit in school zones is 30 km/hr.
