Charges are pending against a 33-year-old man in relation to a vehicle pursuit in the city early Wednesday morning.

Police on routine patrol located an older model red truck that was suspected to have been involved in a recent string of break and enters in the Weldon area, and had also been involved in a fuel theft at a local gas station earlier in the night. The vehicle had been reported stolen on October 17 and displayed a stolen Alberta license plate.

Police attempted a vehicle stop near 28^th Street and 6^th Avenue West around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday but the driver sped away and a criminal pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended after the driver of the truck stopped the vehicle behind a business in the 500 Block of 15^th St. E. and attempted to flee on foot.

The suspect is currently on probation for a previous charge involving the theft of a motor vehicle and remains in custody. Police continue to investigate.
