Weekend Update – January 8, 2017

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 196 calls for service over the weekend and arrested 37 people. The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (12) and non-coded 911 calls (12).

File #2018-670 - Impaired Driver

A 19-year-old female from Prince Albert was charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 by police after a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Saturday morning.

On Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service responded to an MVA on 5th Avenue and Marquis Road. A vehicle had hit a light standard and was in a snow bank when police arrived. The driver was questioned and arrested by police who suspected the driver was intoxicated.

The suspect was charged at the time of the incident and has since been released with a scheduled court date of February 22, 2018.

File # 2018-716 - Impaired Driver

A male driver from Prince Albert was charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 Saturday night. On Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 9:25 p.m. officers conducted a Traffic Safety Act stop on the unit block of River Street West.

The driver admitted to officers to drinking and was brought back to the police vehicle where an Assisted Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which he failed for sobriety.

The suspect was brought back to the police station and failed subsequent breathalyzers.

The 48-year-old from Prince Albert has since been released to appear in court to answer to charges on February 6, 2018.

File # 2018-731: Weapons Charges

On January 7, 2017 at 1:25 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service conducted a Traffic Safety Act (TSA) stop on a suspected impaired vehicle on 13 Street East and 6 Avenue East.

Officers upon questioning the driver confirmed he had a suspended driver's license.

Three passengers in the vehicle were found to be either wanted on outstanding warrants or breaching their probation and all three were then arrested.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a backpack containing bear spray and an air soft pistol . Officers also located ammunition in the vehicle.

The driver was issued a ticket for driving with a suspended license and the vehicle was impounded.

A 27-year-old male from Saskatoon is charged with obstructing a police officer by providing a false name and breach of probation order (Information #991036889).

A 17-year-old female from Prince Albert is charged with being at large of her undertaking and breath of a youth order sentence (Information #991036898).

A 18-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with breach of a youth order sentence (Information #991036890).

The three suspects will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
