Weekend Update – March 12, 2018

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 189 calls for service over the weekend and arrested 31 people. The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (28) and disturbances (27).

File #2018-6742: Possession of Weapon

On March 10, 2018 at 3:59 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service officers were dispatched to a residence on the Unit Block of 22nd Street East on a disturbance call.

The owner of the residence had caught a suspect attempting to break-and-enter into the yard and was holding him in the yard.

The suspect had a machete which he had dropped on the ground when apprehended by the resident.

The officers arrived and arrested the suspect on scene. The resident also provided video surveillance of the incident to police.

A 21-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with possession of a weapon (a machete) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, loitering on property and breach of probation order (Information #99104419).

The suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

File # 2018-6744: Mischief

On March 10, 2018 at 4:38 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service officers attended to 900 Block Sanderson Crescent for a mischief complaint of two males attempting to break into vehicles and yards.

The two male suspects were located at the driveway of a residence on the block carrying a large handbag. The first male was arrested by officers but the second suspect fled on foot before officers could apprehend him.

The bag was searched and located were miscellaneous items that were taken from an unlocked vehicle and later returned to the owner.

The 20-year-old male suspect from Prince Albert is charged with stealing property not exceeding $5,000, committing mischief by, obstruction of peace officers by failing to provide his name, loitering on property, and breach of probation order (Information # 991044016).

The suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today
